Tooth Trauma in Children: How to Handle Dental Emergencies in Kids at Beecroft Smiles
Tooth trauma in children could be devastating. As a dentist with over two decades of experience, I’ve seen countless smiles transform – and sometimes, take a tumble!
Children, with their boundless energy and adventurous spirit, are particularly prone to dental emergencies. A chipped tooth after a playground fall, a loose tooth after a bike mishap – these situations can be frightening for both child and parent.
We understand the unique needs of children’s dentistry. We create a welcoming and friendly environment to put your child at ease, even in the midst of a dental emergency. While we can’t offer 24/7 service and may not be open outside of working hours, we prioritize seeing children who experience dental emergencies on the same day they call whenever possible. Our goal is to minimize discomfort and get your child back to their bright, healthy smile quickly.
Don't let a Tooth Trauma derail your child's day!
We offer extended hours to accommodate busy schedules, and we’re available for urgent care Monday through Saturday. If your child has a dental emergency in Beecroft or the surrounding areas, Beecroft Smiles is here to help.

We have a bright and colorful play area to distract your child, as well as age-appropriate toys and movies to help them feel relaxed. Our friendly staff will do everything they can to make your child feel at ease throughout their visit.
What to Do in Case of a Dental Emergency:
While we’re here to help with any urgent tooth trauma in children, it’s also important to know how to react in the moment. Here are some quick tips:
- Stay calm and reassure your child.
- Assess the situation. Is there bleeding? Is the tooth loose or chipped?
- For a knocked-out tooth: Locate the tooth if possible. Do not touch the root, but hold the tooth by the crown (the white part). If possible, try to gently reinsert the tooth back into the socket. If that’s not possible, place the tooth in a clean container with milk or saliva.
- For a chipped tooth: There may be some minor bleeding. Rinse your child’s mouth with warm salt water.
- For a loose tooth: Avoid touching or manipulating the tooth.
